2018 – Day 10

South coast, here we come!

Along road 1 we stopped near Reydarfjordur to take some pictures of a small river. We decided to follow the peninsula on road 955.

In Stodvarfjordur we entered Petra’s Stone Collection. It is a huge collection of rocks that is layed out for display in a beautiful garden and in a house. The colors and shapes were worth a visit.

Further south we stopped at Djupivogur to see Eggin i Gledivik: a row of eggs made of stones at this village’s port.

Here we found a museum/collections of many things. Freevilli collection of nature art craft. Here driftwood, bones and handcrafted items can be enjoyed. The owner (and his dog too) is extremely nice. With more time we would have stayed here longer.

Hofn was still about 1H30 away, and worst of all… a tyre puncture halted our run. Luckily a dutch couple helped us changing the tyre. At the moment we completely forget to ask their adress or e-mail, because they just saved our day and we would love to thank them again.

After the tyre was changed in Hofn, we had dinner and scouted the port. From here it is possible to view the Vatnajokull glacier among the mountains.
