Our new adventure begins!
As usual the flight took off in the early afternoon from Zurich Airport. At the check-in we tried to get more informations about the connecting flight to Akureyri. I can confirm that even with Air Iceland Connect your belongings will be transferred automatically: no need to claim baggages and check in again.
Once in Keflavik, we found Air Iceland Connect personnel waiting for us (and others) and gave us directions to the gate.
The Bombardier Dash 8 was ready and accepting travellers. Sadly, at 17:00 it was already dark. No chance in seeing the ground, except city and town lights.
The plane came in from the north, and after a short turbolence we were in Akureyri.
The airport is little and easy to navigate.
After checking in at the hotel, we headed eastbound with the rental car. Just a few kilometers hoping for the Northern Lights. No chance, but at least we experimented the brand new Vadlaheid tunnel (online payment is easy and quick, check https://www.veggjald.is/en).
