2019 – Day 2

Weather was nice and, strangely enough, there was no snow. Time to show Iceland to my Girlfriend.

Keeping in mind of the few daylight hours, we headed to Myvatn before sunrise.

After a short stop at the Godafoss waterfalls we drove to Dimmu Borgir. I was expecting closed paths like in june 2018, but luckily we managed to reachΒ  Kirkjan cave.Β

The clock was thicking and sunset was unforgiving (I admit, that winter is not the best season to explore Iceland), so we tried to reach Hverir first and then Dettifoss watefall.Β

There were less tourists compared to the previous summer, but I was expecting less. The easy path to Dettifoss was covered in snow, ice and with many crystal clear puddles.Β

It was not hard, but it took some time. I would suggest warm and water resistant shoes and trousers. Once near the waterfall, the path became a bit risky.

On the way back, we managed to stop and relax at the Myvatn Nature Baths. A lovely open-air hot pool.Β
